Orion Shining Star: Michael Bergamini

Where are you from?
Brooklyn, NY

What company did you last work? What was your position and what did you do there?
Orion was my first job out of college! I interned for the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey for two summers in college, working in the Treasury Department reconciling invoices for JFK, LaGuardia, and Newark Airports.

What college/university did you graduate from?
I graduated from Saint Joseph’s University (THWND!) in Philadelphia, PA with a major in Marketing and a double minor in Finance & the Music Industry. Throughout my time at SJU, I spent a lot of time leading the marketing teams for the SJU Theatre Company and our college radio station on campus. I can also confidently say that Jim’s has the best cheesesteak in Philly – none of this Pat’s or Gino’s nonsense will be tolerated.

Something interesting you might not know about me…
My high school had 14 different bands, so virtually all students were a part of the music program to some extent – I played the trumpet in our jazz band. We performed at Madison Square Garden when St. Francis College played in basketball tournaments, Hershey Park, and even flew to Japan as part of an exchange program! In Japan, I lived with a host family over the Easter break and was really able to immerse myself into the Japanese culture for 10 days. (My grandma is still mad that I missed Easter dinner, even after all these years…)

If you could travel anywhere in the world, where would you go?
Australia. Something about their wildlife has always fascinated me. I feel like every week there’s a new Facebook video about some new rare species that was discovered down under. Or maybe I just really like their accents?

Your favorite bands?
Well…there’s QUITE a few. Some of my favorites are Twenty One Pilots, The Wonder Years, Knuckle Puck, and State Champs. My favorite band is Paramore. I’ve seen them 29 times at some of the most amazing places across the country, including Madison Square Garden, Radio City, The Grand Ole Opry, and Harvard University. My friends and I even vacationed with them twice on their own cruise, called Parahoy! Last year in a festival in Chicago, they invited me to sing ‘Misery Business’ on stage with them in front of 15,000 people. Craziest day of my life! Check it out here:
