My Best Self: Becca Cornish

Becca Cornish
Director, Digital Solutions EMEA

How do you define striving to be your “Best Self?”
I’m at my best when I’m able to connect with people (in real life!) and being active both mentally and physically. Routine is incredibly important to me and something that I’ve found much easier this past year, coming into the office and being around the team has been a huge part of helping me to perform at my best.

Where did you grow up?
I was lucky enough to grow up in a city called Bath, just a couple hours outside of London in the west of England. If you ever get the chance to visit the UK, Bath is a beautiful city and I’m sure Paige (Wheeler) and Vercs (Karen Vercoe) from the London team would agree when I say that west is best! I love living in London but try to get back and visit family, and more importantly, the dog, about five or six times a year.

What are your hobbies?
I love playing and watching sport in my spare time, particularly swimming and netball but honestly I can’t think of a sport I wouldn’t watch. Similarly, London 2012 Olympics was the highlight of my teenage years and even now I’ll get up at all times of the night to watch certain events live at the Olympics. I’m hopeful that for Paris 2024 some of this will be in person!

Best piece of advice you have received?
The best piece of advice I’ve received was around how to get comfortable with being uncomfortable. Personally, I believe the times I’ve learnt the most are when I’ve been outside my comfort zone. Similarly when these situations don’t go to plan, failure isn’t something we should fear. But rather, it gives us the opportunity to learn and grow and, most importantly, do it again!

What do you try and do frequently to focus on mental health/wellness?
I studied Psychology at University so this along with recent years has highlighted the importance of looking after our minds as well as our bodies. Finding time to read and learn on this subject is something I’m very passionate about. For me the most important thing is talking, I’ve not been the best at sharing my thoughts and feelings in the past but it’s something I’m actively trying to get better at. They do say talking is like a muscle, the more you do it the easier it becomes and I would have to agree!
