Like most everyone, the past year has been marked by change for Francisco Garcia, Orion México’s new Managing Director. Taking on his new duties in January, Francisco leads the growth and profitability in Mexico, scales Orion offerings, and grooms the agency’s top talent. In this candid Q&A, he reveals the agency’s biggest opportunities, how he sets priorities, and some of the best ways to unwind.

What’s the most exciting aspect about your new role as Managing Director, Orion Mexico?
I’m excited to have the opportunity to be part of a great company, such as Orion. The value that we provide through innovative offerings not only makes Orion successful and profitable but provides new growth opportunities in LATAM, an undeniably important market. Of course, I love working in tandem with a very talented team.

What do you feel is the biggest opportunity for growth in Mexico?
OPEN is absolutely our biggest opportunity. Addressing digital and data opportunities will be key in a short time to keep up with the media business conversation.

How is Mexico different from, and similar to, other markets in LATAM?
Mexico is an essential market in LATAM — and has emerged as a paradigm for other markets in Latin America. Mexico is rife with a lot of opportunities, and Barter is crucial for our development; in the case of other countries, we will be developing markets through barter and replicating our best practices and good experiences.

What’s your best tip for maximizing time?
Have an agenda! Prioritize. Both of these traits will help you be structured and disciplined. Also, write and read. I write down all of my to-dos, projects, meetings, revisions, deliveries — and then prioritize them. I think this is the key to maximizing time.

How do you disconnect and relax?
Time with my family provides the best moments. Barbecuing with the family is one of my favorite things to do. I also love time with myself; running and working out allows me to gain clarity, develop new projects, have introspective time, take a breath, and really make things concrete.
