Shining Star: Matthew Epstein

Matthew Epstein is our first Shining Star this fall. Orion’s National Activation Manager gives us the details of his 5th-grade thespian experience and his fondest sports memory with his dad.

Where are you from?
Great Neck, New York, which is on Long Island.

What college did you graduate from?
I graduated from the University of Maryland with a degree in marketing.

Tell us something interesting about you that we might not know.
Well in the 5th grade, I played the lead, Captain Corcoran, in my elementary school’s production of Gilbert & Sullivan’s H.M.S. Pinafore.

What are your hobbies?
I enjoy playing tennis and have picked up golf in the past few years. It has been a challenge, but I am hopeful that my game will come together one of these days.

Your favorite movie?
The Shawshank Redemption is my favorite film, though I can always watch Walk Hard: The Dewey Cox Story for a good laugh. I’d love some recommendations; I just ask that you don’t reveal anything about the movie beforehand. I like to go in fresh.

What’s your favorite sports memory?
My father allowing me to stay up and watch the Rangers win the Stanley Cup in 1994 is one of my first and most cherished memories.

If you could travel anywhere in the world, where would you go?
I’ve always wanted to visit Santorini for its beautiful beaches and authentic Souvlaki.
