Where are you from?
As a Navy brat, I spent a large chunk of my life moving around but I usually call the Washington D.C. area and Florida home. After college, I moved to New York where I became an Orionite (for the first time) and then moved out west to my current home, Los Angeles.
Where did you last work? What was your position and what did you do?
I started my media career at Orion working as a Media Investment Assistant in the local capital department. From there, I was able to work on National TV before leaving Orion and moving over to the cinema advertising space at National Cinemedia (NCM). At NCM, my role was a hybrid of Ad Sales and Marketing and my main responsibilities included crafting presentations and finding ways for clients to have their ad on a big screen in front of a captive audience. Not only was I selling ad space on-screen, I also got to work on a few custom theater lobby elements, digital retargeting buys, and a sweepstakes for free ice cream. My position at NCM in New York allowed me to transfer to “La La Land” where I got to work with the movie studios to find clients for movie tie-ins. I’m now happily back at home (Orion) where I sit in the LA office in the client strategy department and help handle all of the client business on the west coast.
What’s your favorite sports team?
My college alma mater, the 2017 National Football Champions University of Central Floida (UCF) Knights are my favorite sports team. Not only is our football team a massive success, the UCF men’s basketball team was also in the NCAA March Madness tournament last year making it to the second round. For a sports program that has only been around for 50 years, we have made great strides in getting great talent and national recognition. I invite all of you to join the Knight Nation!
If you could travel anywhere in the world, where would you go?
As a child who moved around a lot, I quickly learned to appreciate and enjoy traveling the world. The place that I would like to visit most is Nigeria. I recently did a DNA test and found that my ancestors hailed from Nigeria and that I have nearly 44% Nigerian DNA. With this new information, I would love to visit the “motherland” to learn about and experience the culture, food, and celebrations.
What’s your favorite quote?
One of my favorite quotes which I feel is timely right now is “It is during our darkest moments that we must focus to see the light” by Aristotle. No matter how despair things might look, it’s always important to look ahead and focus on the light or see the positive that will be the driving force to get you through the darkness. In a world that may seem bleak, I find that we all must focus on the light.
