Winners of our ColorComm Conference Contest

Cosmos and ColorComm Conference

ColorComm will hold its 5th Annual ColorComm Conference this summer. To facilitate opportunities to enrich and embrace Orionites’ understanding and commitment to Diversity + Inclusion, members of the Cosmos Committee were given the chance to enter a contest to attend.

Last year, Felicia Thomas, VP, National Activation, and Brian McMahon, Chief Executive Officer, joined other representatives from the Mediabrands’ network in attending the ColorComm Conference. ColorComm began seven years ago as a luncheon in Washington D.C. and has grown into an organization and community that focuses on opportunities to connect women of color in all areas of communications.

We received many incredible entries to attend this year’s contest — making the selection process no easy task — and reflecting Orionites’ commitment to being advocates and allies in a space that Michael Roth, IPG’s Chairman and CEO, has observed, “… is our ultimate challenge in business and society. Aside from being right, it’s a positive business case.”

The Cosmos Committee and our senior leaders have designated Jen Harmon, Senior Media Investment Buyer, to attend the conference along with LeAndra Cleveland, Cosmos Co-Chair and Manager, Local Activation and senior leadership representation from Greg Walsh, Global President, and Caroline Penwarden, IPG Mediabrands, EVP, HR Business Partner, Diversified Services.

“I am excited to network and brainstorm with LeAndra, and our peers in the media, advertising, and marketing fields on ways to further promote diversity and inclusion in the workplace, and to bring those ideas back to Orion,” Jen said about what most excites her about the ColorComm experience.

Jen’s eagerness to share and implement what she learns at ColorComm is one of the driving factors to why she was selected to attend.

“I hope that my experience at ColorComm will be one of renewed inspiration to continue the fight against adversity and [provide] an education on the strides and successes of companies and individuals making our workforce more inclusive,” said LeAndra. “I am also excited to meet the many like-minded men and women of our industry that will be in attendance.”

We can’t wait to see how LeAndra, Jen, Caroline and Greg will share the ColorComm experience with us during the conference and the learnings they’ll bring back with them.
